The property used to be an A frame building with a swimming pool in front which housed a cell phone and satellite TV retail business. The A frame and the neighboring residential building building were demolished.

Planning for the development started in February 2007. In permits and zoning documents filed with the City of San Jose, the developers intend to construct a 4,300 square foot building for retail commercial uses, and allow outdoor patio for a restaurant.

However, in an interview which appeared in the March 2, 2007 issue of the West San Jose Resident, Eugene Sakai, a principal with Studio S Squared Architecture, said the site would not be developed as a restaurant.

In an artist’s rendition of the completed building, a cell phone store and a retail store are envisioned.

An application to develop this property has been received by the City of San Jose. Stegner Development plans to develop a new 4,685 square-foot commercial building with a drive-through or use of the existing 2,650 square-foot commercial building and drive-through. Either way, it looks like a new fast food restaurant.

The application for development was filed in September 2008.

Even though the property has been vacant for over a decade, the fluorescent light above the beverage station has remained on all this time.

Mark Brading of Glen Dennee Company, the developer for the property, tells South Winchester that currently there is no tenant signed up for the property.
